Wibarm is a pioneering action-RPG hybrid developed by Arsys Software and released in 1986 for Japanese PCs like the NEC PC-88 and FM-7. It was later ported to MS-DOS in 1989 by Brøderbund Software. The game stands out for its innovative blend of gameplay styles and early use of 3D polygonal graphics.

🧩 Gameplay Overview

In Wibarm, players control a transformable mecha robot capable of shifting between three modes:

  • Humanoid Mech: Ideal for side-scrolling combat and exploration.

  • Tank: Provides enhanced ground mobility and firepower.

  • Jet: Allows for top-down aerial navigation.

The game features a mix of perspectives: side-scrolling for outdoor areas, top-down for aerial sections, and a third-person 3D view when exploring indoor environments. This combination offers a diverse and engaging gameplay experience.

Players can freely choose which locations to explore first, collecting power units to enhance their robot's abilities. If a particular boss proves too challenging, players can venture into other areas to strengthen their character before returning.

This game has been tested on an original PC and runs flawlessly. Please note that certain games may require installation to the computer’s hard drive in order to function properly. This is often necessary when the game’s size exceeds the 1.44MB capacity of a standard floppy disk or when the game requires additional files and setup that cannot be run directly from the disk.
